peninsula apartment
This project aimed to adapt a 56m² one-bedroom apartment for a single mother and a baby. The eccentricities of the original layout (with a parabolic lightwell in the centre) were incorporated into the new design after the addition of a curved gesture that tamed the undefined space and delimitated the new rooms: the baby’s bedroom, the small kitchen, the study area, and the living room.
The proposal takes into account a minimal intervention, preserving the view to the Guaíba Lake in the living room and separating private and semi-private areas inside the apartment by the kitchen floor. The project is a long-term solution, easily adaptable for the users as the child grows and uses change.
